Hello! My name is Melike and I am the founder of Elalem Clay. My journey with ceramics began as a hobby in middle school and continued with a passion for creating beautiful, functional works of art from clay. Over the years, my passion developed and I decided to share what I do with a wider audience, which led to the birth of Elalem Clay.

The name Elalem Clay has a special meaning for me. Contrary to popular belief, I did not choose the name based on its literal meaning in Turkish (everybody, people) but because it contains the words "El" (hand) and "Alem" (world) in Turkish. At first, I was working with sculptural objects, especially realistic hands. That's why I believed that Elalem Clay was a very accurate brand name.

What excites me most is the idea that ceramics truly come from the soil beneath our feet. Through Elalem Clay, I aim to create works by blending the natural elements of the soil with my unique style. My style can be described as simple yet colorful, harmoniously combining the natural beauty of clay with vibrant colours.

I produce each piece meticulously on a potter's lathe in my studio in Istanbul. This ensures that each piece is unique and no two pieces are ever exactly the same. I want my customers to feel that the piece they are holding in their hands belongs only to them and will never be repeated again.
